ARISE
A six-week container for women who want to give life to their ideas and birth them into reality
surrounded by other women doing the same – real time.
The right circles fuel you, because if others are chasing their own dreams or creative expression at the same time, they’ll likely champion you to do the same. You become what you are surrounded by and that is why I have created this container. If you feel stagnant at any part of your creative process, perhaps it’s the ideas, perhaps you’re like me and hesitate when it comes to actually getting the idea into the physical, maybe you feel crippled when the time comes for getting it out into the world, maybe you have given up and resigned yourself to not having enough time. Regardless of the reason that is keeping you stuck, conscious or unconscious, if there is a block, this is for you.
For me my process of creating feels light, exciting and ease filled when my imagination is ignited and I am forming ideas. In the past, however, I have got stuck at the part where I must begin and make the idea material.
As a stylist, art director and creative consultant, I have been used to working alongside other people in collaboration and, here, creating felt easier, I realised that when I am working alone, it feels much harder to catch the wave of momentum. I can sit stuck in the space between idea and beginning for weeks if I allow it, I can find all sorts of things that need to be done instead of doing the thing- cleaning the house, clearing out my clothes, going for walks, reading a book, maybe doing a course or looking outside of myself, all the things. I’ve got better at acting on my ideas because I have consciously surrounded myself with people who act immediately on their ideas- even if it is just one step into the making part.
The glitch for me, seemed to be firstly, working on creating things by myself and secondly, because becoming a mother interrupted my creative process that I had indulged in my entire life before that point. It almost felt impossible but with sheer determination I managed to complete my PhD thesis. I began to understand that my process needed to adapt because I was not the same person, that being a mother could be inspiration and fuel.
With my PhD as a reference point to what can be achieved, as well as all the years I spent on producing and directing fashion shoots (my job was literally to get ideas into the material – to make shit happen and I’m talking about things that seemed impossible like getting an airplane in the middle of a Namibian dessert with no extra budget) I insisted that I did not give up on creating, but not without all the mental hurdles that I continue to lay down for myself, I’m just building the muscles to jump right over them (phew- it’s a thing!)
I know that creating is far more ease- filled, for more inspiring, far more joyful when we are doing alongside others, and specifically, alongside other mothers who are tending to their own unique universes, other women who are multifaceted creators.
Over the six-week period I will be creating a project alongside the women who join ARISE you will also be able to lean on my expertise as a creative director and my experience as a producer.
The container will compromise of 6 one hour weekly zoom workshops. I will also be creating a What’s App group for community, momentum, and celebration. All replays will be sent out after the live Zoom.
We begin on SATURDAY 18TH JULY, 12PM GMT
If you join the early bird – before the end of June you will also receive the bonus workshop ‘Introduction to Cyclical Creation’ which will support you on all your creative projects and your journey with ARISE.

Your facilitator:
I have over twenty years of experience in the fashion image making industry and I hold PhD from Central St Martins College of Art and Design. I have produced fashion shoots across the globe in my capacity as Junior Fashion Editor at The Sunday Times Style: in the middle of the Namibian Desert, on the ski slopes of Switzerland, the hills of Spain, the back of beyond in middle America and just about everywhere in between. As a freelance stylist my clients have included Vivienne Westwood, Mother of Pearl and Universal Music, and my images have been published in Vogue Portugal, Vogue Italia and GQ amongst other titles.
Over and above all, I am the devoted mother to my beautiful magical daughter.
