The How Lovely, currently in its very early stages, is an exploration into the wonder in the small (and sometimes large) corners of the human experience, and the alchemy found in the everyday. It doesn’t aim to seek only positivity, rather how the full spectrum of being human has the potential to offer richness, beauty and empathy.

The How Lovely began as a weekly newsletter on Substack whereby I decided that if I committed to writing (at least) five ‘things’ that brought me joy, grace or had simply moved me each week and, if against my usual hermit nature, I put it somewhere where others could read it, then I would have to spend a lot of time focussing on the gold. It is also a process of working out what is happening in the now. I continue to write those letters each week as well as other essays which offer more in depth critical thinking.

By inviting others to do the same, be it through the medium of writing or photography, I hope that The How Lovely becomes a platform where people can discover a common thread of humanity.
